Young Chris- The Re-Introduction

Ayo, First and foremost, I wanna give a major shout and send my congratulations to Young Chris. Ay Gunna, I see you homie! You deserve everything that comes to you! Im proud of you. I been a fan of Young Chris music since when me and Gunna was like 15 years old, real rap. At the end of the day, although I've been rapping since I was about 8 years old, Im a fan of rap music, Im a fan of the hip-hop culture and I respect quality and consistency. A unique story, a distinct flow, Young Chris has been delivering good music since he broke through the underground and breached the mainstream. After the Roc-A-Fella/State Property break up, I felt that if there was one artist who would continue to have a successful career, it'd be Young Chris. In every song you hear, he matures constantly, as an artist and person. He's mad intelligent, and he quickly grasped the concept of the post net era. He made it seem like an easy transition and capitalized by keeping the internet on fire, delivering constant videos and new music, with marketing and music campaigns like 30 days 30verses, The Network Mixtape, The Network 2, and more. Seems like he took the time to reflect, prioritize, and come back even stronger, making a major impact on the eastcoast market, as well as our hometown, Philadelphia! I've been tryna get up with Gunna for a minute, We've used the same photographers, engineers, Djs, and studios, but have yet to recently bump into eachother. Rico Love made the best move he could possibly make and its definetly a goodlook for our city. Shout to the whole Division 1 family, who is distributed in a joint venture deal by Universal. "I Be On That Philly Shit" the new single is murdering the clubs all over right now. Another record just released titled "Break em Down" both produced by Rico Love. Click on the pic above to listen, download, pre order, and sign up for the mailist! Philly!

Nicki Minaj is the Queen Of Today's Hip-Hop!

It's been a minute since I have blogged. I've been very busy with my newest project and I took some time to deal with personal issues. Let's just get right into this though. There's been alot of speculation and controversy surrounding Nicki Minaj. To keep it 100, when Nicki first hit the mainstream, I didn't care for her music or style too much. But I think this happens with most artist. I respected her older, underground material. Over a period of time, I witnessed her putting out quality and consistency. Isn't that what I stated many people lack? I began to actually "listen and hear" her story, analyze her vocals, her engineering, her entire brand. I started to watch from a business perspective as well as the lyrical aspect. Over a period of time, she impressed me. She's a strong woman and I never understood how so many of you people could hate on a woman, who raised herself, who struggled to be successful, followed her dreams and met the right people at the right time. The crazy shit is, shes REALLY passionate, she can REALLY rap, she REALLY tells her story and she is REALLY gifted/talented. Then I take a step back, the reversed perspective.. People argue about her content, and what she stands for and her negative influence amongst teenage girls. Well, I don't see male rappers being bashed and critiqued the way she is. She is doing what works for her, and thats why they have the muthafuckin "Parental Advisory, Explicit Content" sticker on the damn cd cover. I'm not even about to get into that though. She sold over 300,000 units first week, in a time where the post net era has made it very difficult for record labels and artists to capitalize off of music and record sales. Overall, with the production of Swizz Beats, Bangledesh, and features like Kanye West and Drake, I think it was a very genuine album. I think she was very open about her various emotions and feelings, and obviously it brought enough attention to help her with record sales and maintain her power as the Queen of today;s hip-hop. I was born in 1985, started rapping at 8 years old.. I grew up listening to Foxy brown, Lil Kim, Da Brat, Queen latifa, and I cannot deny their impact on today's music. But I lost mad respect for Lil Kim. These women should be happy for you Nicki, you accomplished more in 2 years in the mainstream then they have in their entire career! Get yours, keep grindin' and im proud of you sis! Don't stop!

Swizz Beats:The Monsta "Article Out Of Haute Living Magazine"

From the Bronx to Beverly Hills, Swizz Beatz steps out as a music mogul, philanthropist, fashion fixture, and artist.

ShareDJ Swizz Beatz doesn’t like the number one. For starters, it’s an ego thing. But also because, “I don’t think I’m number one. I think I’m the one.” And in a year that promises to be his greatest yet, we couldn’t be more intrigued.

Born in 1978 as Kasseem Dean into the rough and tumble South Bronx borough of New York City, Swizz Beatz has always been around music. As an adolescent, rather than hitting the asphalt of the neighborhood basketball courts, Swizz spent time watching local DJs and rappers spinning tunes on the streets. “I remember going to the back park, and all of these famous DJs were there doing their thing, and I was inspired by that,” explains Swizz. So inspired that he grew up to become a DJ, as well as a record producer, rapper, artist, philanthropist, entrepreneur, and the United Nations’ Music Ambassador for World Peace.

It wasn’t always smooth sailing, however, for this young protégé. “I used to get into a lot of trouble. I always had music. But, you know, growing up in the Bronx, you were always faced with decisions you had to make.” And for Swizz that meant deciding whether or not to protect himself. He started slipping down the wrong road and found himself in trouble at school. Faced with possible incarceration, Swizz had another decision to make. He credits his then-stepfather for saving his life when his job transfer relocated the family to Atlanta. Leaving behind a legacy—he became the No. 1 DJ in the Bronx, No. 1 in mix tapes, and the No. 1 DJ at his school—Swizz held on to his dreams for success in the music industry. And with a little help from his family, Swizz was able to immerse himself in music at an early age. His uncles, Dee and Waah Deen, began the Ruff Ryder’s record label, and, at just 16 years old, Swizz produced DMX’s chart-breaking hit “Stop, Drop.”

But this story is not about his past shortcomings or unfortunate roadblocks; this is the story of his commencement. “2010, I consider it my graduation year. Because from 2009 and back you were dealing with somebody growing into a man.” And what a man he has become. With more than 250 million records sold, his own Full Surface record label, and collaborations with countless music greats including Busta Rhymes, Jay-Z, Gwen Stefani, Chris Brown, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, and Eminem, Swizz is a force in the music and entertainment industries. The release of his first solo album Presents G.H.E.T.T.O Stories put him on the map, while collaborations on “On to the Next One” with Jay-Z, “Million Dollar Bill” with Whitney Houston, “Nasty Girl” with Ludacris, and “I Can Transform Ya” with Chris Brown made him a household name. These notable relationships formed with such illustrious talents that reinforce Swizz’s dedication to the craft of music—whether it is hip-hop, rock ‘n’ roll, or R&B. His success is tempered by his humble approach to life. “I didn’t let my problems take over my dreams and my wishes. I just used them accelerate to a whole new level,” says Swizz, who is clear to point out that he has never used his unfortunate upbringing as a launching pad for his career.

Brand New Video: Meek Mill Feat. Young Chris

Philly! We got another one!

Young Jeezy's "TRAP OR DIE 2" Hosted by Don Cannon/Young Chris: "NETWORK 2"

Listen to Trap or Die 2 Hosted by Don Cannon NOW! Support REAL Life RAP/HIP-HOP
Listen and Download Here!

I knew that when this tape dropped it was going to be a problem. I'll keep it way 100, Young Jeezy's album Thug Motivation is in my top 20 albums. The production was ridiculous, the vocal and lyrical content was fire and it was a very potent album that people bangged wil continue to bang for years to come. I fucked with the next album "The Inspiration" but I was still stuck on the first album so I didn't appreciate the body of work as much. When "The Recession" dropped, I was skeptical after hearing "Vacation" but the record "Crazy World" made me understand that he was doing what he had to commercially, to remain relevant, and open up is demographic/fan base which me being an artist, I respect and it was a very good album. Now comes "Trap Or Die" the mixtape, I actually read the new Vibe Magazine interview with Jeezy, speaking of the beefs he went through, his life, the person he lost as a A&R/mentor who comitted suicide, and more. This is a strong artist and I wish him luck. Pick up the magazine to read further in detail as I don't want to speak in detail, but it was written. I'm glad he's still goin' hard!

Hosted By:
Producer/DJ: Don Cannon

Kira Delara In The Making!

Kira Delara huh? Hmmm, We've heard a lot about you. Tell me a little bit about yourself and how you became interested in the music entertainment
industry?

I became interested when I was about 7 years old and listened to Whitney Houston's "I will always love you." Her voice was so inspirational that it made me want to be just like her. I learned how to belt at an early age because of her and Celine Dion. After I fell in love with singing, things just started falling into place!

So, How difficuly is it as a female artist to breakthough and what are some of your struggles as a recording artist?

I think the hardest thing about being a female artist is gaining respect from a male that's in the industry. Many women, including myself, face the challenge of being taken advantage of and it's hard to be taken seriously and not just seen as another pretty face. I think it's important, especially for females, to be strong and to never let any man that's in this industry take advantage of us!

Do you write your own music?

I write my own music and also work with other songwriters

What are some of the people you have worked with and what mainstream artist or producers would you love to work with?

I've worked with a very long list of producers and songwriters but I've dreamed of working with people from Ne-Yo, Keri Hilson to Swizz Beats!

What is the music scene like in your particular genre in Philadelphia?

The music scene is a bit tougher as a pop artist in philadelphia because most artists are hardcore hip-hop or rock. However, it helps me pave my own way in Philly to be different.

Do you currently have distribution or are you shopping for a record deal?

I am currently shopping for a deal.

Your vocals are amazing, what is your writing and recording process like, if you want to share that with us, ahhaa.

I typically will listen to a track and just start feeling out melodies and play around with words. As soon as a track is played, I think about the type of vibe I'm feeling or a theme - it ranges anywhere from sadness, happiness, party time, and more.

What is the Kira Delara targeted demographic?

I am targetting any age and any race. I think that music should expand to everyone and not be secluded to one sector!

What is next or what can we expect from you in 2010-2011?

You can expect new hits coming out this year as well as a possible tour!

Well we definetly appreciate you taking time out to introduce the rest of the world to such an amazing, beautiful, and gifted artist. What is your 2010 message to the independent industry and upcoming artist like your self in this digital era who are working to become successful in your
genre?

Never give up. Keep working on your craft and don't stop.  Always keep the doors open and be willing to do any type of work to get ahead in the game.

Hit Music Producer Dilemma Sits Down With Intoodeap.com

What makes you a successful hit producer?
-I Stay Positive, I Stay Persistent, I Stay Patient, I Always Pray, I'm not afraid to be creative, or afraid to reinvent myself because music is always changing. I'm not afraid to ask for help from others to get the job done.

Tell us about your work ethic, your schedule or daily routines involving music... -Ok let me see, I'd like to think that i work hard. I might be touching up a few things on a beat or writing a hook to another, or writhing a song to another, studying, listen to mixes, doing whatever it takes to improve my sound. My daily routines changes all the time. When I 1st started making beats, i thought you just make a hot beat , find the artist or manager's email, send it to them, they hear it , they like it, they pay you, and they record it, The End.. Sometimes it might work like that but not all the time. Once I got a little more into the whole "shopping records" side and started to see how placements happen, i changed the way i made records to be more effective. Then after awhile i start to see that some, not all but some A&R's don't have a clue, so now I make music that i like to hear "1st" and from time to time make records that they want to hear.

What influences your music production?
Any & everything that hits my ears, I listen to it all. Imma hugh Jazz head though. As far as producer influences, i would say, Just, Dilla, J.R, Tim, as well as some new up&coming producers that don't have the big name credits...yet

SAROM: MR. PHILADELPHIA MUZIK

Who is Sarom?
-Sarom is a Hispanic Record Producer who was born and raised in North Philadelphia. His musik is versatile and has his own unique sound that can't be compared.

What inspired u?
-Growing up back in 96'-97' I was inspired by Wu Tang. Rza always had some fire beats at the time. Then listening to Big Pun/Fat Joe/Jay Z gave me that inspiration to want to get involved with the musik. At that time I was an artist. So I figured I minus well learn how to make beats so I can rap over my own tracks. So once I got the production game on lock I gave up the rappin'...I was able to express my musik more by being behind the scenes and making a track then words.

How hard is it as a Puerto Rican in the entertainment industry, especially in Philly?
-It's very hard as a Hispanic being in this industry. Some people don't give the credit that we deserve. Especially when you making major moves. As in Philly, urban radio stations don't show any love for us hispanic's who are actually making moves and puttin the city on the map. Weather you a hispanic rapper/singer/producer/actor/model you gotta bust ya ass 10 times more to get ya name known! Real talk tho..us Hispanics don't get the support we deserve.

What is your message to upcoming producers?
-Just keep it humble and be original! Make sure your business is right...As of having a manager to shop your musik and make moves, a lawyer to back you up for the legal side of things and ya team/family supporting you. There's a lot of fakes and snakes out there so keep ya eyes open..and never sign anything without having a lawyer read it.

R.I.P. BIGGIE SMALLS 13TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY

MAY 21ST, 1972-MARCH 9TH, 1997

At first I debated if I should post pics from the actual murder scene... But then I said to myself "Why post the negativity? Why relive that horrible feeling?" To keep it way 100, I'll never forget that night. I remember clearly, I had just turned 12 years and was in the 7th grade. I was on Spring Break and at my uncle's house on Mascher St. in North Philly, it was around 2:11 or 2:15 am when we were up listening to the radio and all of sudden the radio personality stopped and said "omg we just received some sad news, rapper Biggie Smalls was just shot and pronounced dead Cedars-Sinai Medical Center." So i jumped up and screamed into my uncle's room like "ayo Danny yo Biggie Smalls is dead!! He got shot!!" I had already been involved with hip hop for 4 years before his death, as a young child. My Uncles were rappers. He broke down crying, and I shed a tear. I had every Biggie Smalls cd at that time, and was a fan at 12 years old. He was one of my biggest influences. I wish the Lox would've dropped their first album under Bad Boy to feature BIG all crazy. They dropped Money, Power, & Respect a year later, Jan 13th 1998. Chart topper too! I have too many opinions about this situation, so I will just let the dead rest in peace. We can go on forever with conspiracy theories. Im angry about that so I decided not to post these documentaries, news clippings, or investigation articles. Biggie Smalls was one of the greatest rapper of all times. Rest In Peace!

THE FLOOD PROJECT: HOSTED BY DJ OMEGA

The Flood Project mixtape is almost done! This is one of the most authentic and original pieces of material I ever recorded. This is mixtape was supposed to drop a while ago, but it seems like everytime something fell in place, something else went wrong. But I fight in the face of adversity and I never break under pressure. For a while I was receiving emails of bullshit production. I can't stand when producers send music, just to send it. Heres my ethic: If you wouldn't put your best production, up against one of your favorite producers, or you don't have the confidence when playing it in front of me, why would you even send it to me? I need quality material from a producer who delivers is consistently. Its like the drug game, and only the producers with a quality brand, who consistently make good music, will be heard or used. Same goes for artist who record bullshit. Me being a picky artist, also added to the delayed release. Im glad to say I teamed up with producers like, Kajmir Royale, Tone Setter Beats, Auditory, I have some older Alchemist on there, Black Keys and more. I also do not write music down any more, I came to a point in my career where , like a Jay Z, Biggie, or Wayne, Im always on the move, I don't find myself just sitting down with time, and a pen and pad to write, I feel the vocals can sound arranged. I don't want to get in to depth about this, but basically, it's been a crazy process. I have crazy engineers behind me, and I'm glad to work with DJ Omega on this project. Omega put in work, with Beanie Sigel and the whole Roc-A-Fella/State Property, toured the world, and is now working with Wale of Interscope. This is an important mixtape and the city will definetly be banggin' this all over. I titled it "The Flood Project" bc it wasn't a blueprint, it was more so a manual. It wasn't a how to, it was more so a, I see, I do, I learn. I see too many artist not respecting and insulting the hip hop culture, playing with the gang life as it were a fad. I see ppl hustlin' backwards all crazy. So I spoke on it. No subliminal messages or shots, straight forward, and ofcourse nothin' directed to anyone inparticular. Its just a real record, and I can't wait for yah'll to listen to it. I just put myself in ya top 10 with this one!
